Trinity's Specialized Programs

Teenagers and Pregnant or Parenting Teens

Trinity is committed to working with teenagers who need to prepare for the future, either when they return to their natural families or when they emancipate. Trinity is dedicated to seeing that foster children graduate from high school and become successful adults. Social workers join forces with school counselors to ensure that teenagers are on track to graduate. They work to ensure that the teens have everything they need to move on to adulthood. Trinity social workers help teens obtain vital documents and open banking accounts, find jobs and training programs, enroll in secondary education programs, find grants and scholarships to pay for school, and apply for transitional housing if needed. Trinity foster families also work with pregnant and parenting teens who need guidance and support through their pregnancy and childbirth, as well as teaching, mentoring, and support in all aspects of parenting.

Support

Intensive Treatment Foster Care

In San Bernardino and San Diego Counties, Trinity Foster Care runs an Intensive Treatment Foster Care (ITFC) program. The ITFC program allows for only one child to be placed in the foster home where extensive support services are provided. Children who might otherwise be placed in a group home are able to reside in a family setting with the extra support they need. Families are provided additional, intensive training for this program, and support counselors come to the home up to twenty hours per week to mentor and assist the families as they care for children with complex emotional and behavioral issues. Families receive a higher support payment for working with children in the ITFC program.

Foster-Adopt Program

In Los Angeles County, Trinity offers a foster-adopt program in which foster parents are able to adopt foster children who are not able to be reunified with family. The agency works with the family throughout the foster care experience and is then able to provide a seamless transition into the adoption process. If and when families choose to adopt children who cannot return to their natural families, they already have their documentation and home study on file so that the adoption process is expedited and the family continues to work with the agency with whom they have built a relationship.
