Get Fit for Kids!

Get motivated to lose weight, earn a chance to win cash prizes and help the abused, abandoned and neglected children of Trinity. All at the same time!

On June 1, 2007, Trinity Children’s Foundation will launch the “Get Fit for Kids” program which encourages participants to lose weight by healthy dieting and exercise, and at the same time help support the abused, abandoned and neglected children in Trinity’s care.

Here’s how it works:

Participants donate $5 per week as they compete within their group. A person assigned at their location will be responsible for weighing and documenting weight loss. Code names may be assigned to assure anonymity. Weight loss must be calculated by percentage of a persons starting weight, as well as in pounds. At the end of each month the person who has lost the biggest percentage of weight will be awarded 50% of the money collected and the other half will be donated to Trinity!

This gives three people in any group an opportunity to earn the monthly jackpot. The names of the winners will be posted on our Web site, and at the end of the three month program, prizes will be awarded.

Partnerships:

Your group, organization or business can assist us by providing expertise and prizes. We need one or more healthcare providers who can give our participants information on healthy dieting and/or offer free screenings; healthy food restaurants to provide coupons for free or discounted meals; gyms or health spas to offer information or even demonstrate how to start a safe exercise program and donate free limited memberships for prizes. These kinds of partners will have a direct link in our Web site.

As part of the program, any informative literature will be distributed to participants. Publicity generated by the program will list participating companies, and the Trinity Today quarterly newsletter will include all participating groups and businesses in a feature article. Any individual, group, organization or business who partners with Trinity in the “Get Fit for Kids” program will benefit by knowing they have had a part in improving the lives of children who are truly in need.

The Michael A. Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund

You can make the difference in the life of a worthy young person!

In California alone, there are more than 90,000 children in foster care placement. Every year, 4,000 youth leave placement upon reaching the age of 18, and only a fraction of these enroll in college. Most have no family or other means of support to help them make the financial and emotional transition to adulthood, a transition that is difficult for every young person to make.

Michael A. Alexander (1931-2004) embodied the spirit of the Trinity mission, and he understood the prohibitive challenges that youth face when they age out of the foster care system. Mike served on Trinity’s Board of Trustees for more than twenty years, and as President for much of that time. Young people were always in Mike’s thoughts and prayers. Since his passing nearly three years ago, Trinity Children’s Foundation has honored Mike’s memory with a scholarship fund that assists the children to whom Mike gave so much. The Michael A. Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to assist Trinity students in pursuing their academic and/or vocational education by funding tuition, books, supplies and school fees, or funds for room and board, utilities, and basic living items (i.e., pots, pans, etc.). Since its inception, twenty young people have been successfully transitioned into higher education and skilled vocations.

Please continue to generously support the Michael A. Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund throughout the year! Your contribution goes to fulfill the mission of the Trinity Children’s Foundation by allowing these disadvantaged students to experience a network of support, the keys to successful emancipation, and the understanding that regardless of the past, it is always possible to look toward a brighter future!
