In 1965, two Orthodox priests in the greater Los Angeles area felt moved to do something about the ever-increasing suffering of children. In 1966, a renovated ranch-style home, formerly owned by the silent film actress Gloria Swanson, was moved from Hollywood to the City of Yucaipa, California, and established as Guadalupe Home for Boys. In this home, six troubled teenage youth were provided with care, guidance, structure and skills that would help them lead healthy, productive lives as they prepared for adulthood.

The organization grew and changed their name from Guadalupe Home for Boys to Trinity Children and Family Services, and today, the organization exists as Trinity Youth Services, emphasizing the agency’s focus on services for abused, neglected and abandoned children from infancy to 21 years of age.

In 1983, Trinity began offering traditional, family foster care services in locations throughout the state of California. The residential programs for children continued to expand services and opened additional homes for at-risk youth from dozens of counties across the state.

Trinity Youth Services currently operates four residential treatment campuses for children and eight foster care offices located in California, Nevada and Texas. Beyond simply feeding, clothing and sheltering children, Trinity provides therapy, mental health and educational services, as well as independent living skills and transitional services to children from 48 counties in California in addition to Las Vegas, Nevada and Houston, Texas. Trinity cares for children in need, regardless of their race, religion, national origin, gender, disability or age.

In the United States, nearly 1 million children are the victims of abuse and neglect each year. Approximately 80% of all child abuse is perpetrated by parents or other family members. On average, 1,500 children die each year at the hand of their abusers and more than 75% of the children killed are under four years of age.

Trinity has been improving the lives of children since 1966. The tireless work our founder and former CEO Emeritus, Fr. Leon Pachis and those who assisted him paved the way for a dedicated team of social workers, child care workers, therapists, support professionals and administrative staff, who have maintained the agency’s reputation as an exemplary child care service provider in the western United States for forty-five years, and have allowed Trinity Youth Services to positively impact the lives of more than 60,000 children since its inception.
