In 1965, three Orthodox priests in the greater Los Angeles area saw the ever-increasing suffering of children. In 1966, the trio renovated a ranch style home in the City of Yucaipa, California. The house had been moved from Hollywood to make way for a freeway and formerly belonged to silent film actress Gloria Swanson. They called it Guadalupe Home for Boys, in deference to one of the priests who was from Mexico. They housed six troubled teenage youth, providing them with care, guidance, structure and skills that would help them lead healthy, productive lives as they prepared for adulthood.

The organization grew and changed their name from Guadalupe Home for Boys to Trinity Children and Family Services, which eventually became Trinity Youth Services because of the focus on services for children.

In 1983, Trinity Children and Family Services began offering Foster Care Services in locations throughout the state of California. The residential programs for children also expanded services and opened additional homes for at-risk youth from dozens of counties across the state.

Trinity Youth Services currently operates five residential treatment centers for children and nine foster care offices located in California, Nevada and Texas. Trinity Youth Services provides care, therapy, mental health and life skills training to more than a thousand children on a daily basis regardless of their race, religion, national origin, gender, disability or age.

In the United States, nearly 1 million children are the victims of abuse and neglect each year. Approximately 80% of all child abuse is perpetrated by parents. On average 1,500 children die each year at the hand of their abusers and more than 75% of the children killed are under four years of age.

Trinity Youth Services has been improving the lives of children in crisis since 1966. The hard work of our dedicated team of approximately 900 social workers, child care workers, support staff, administrative staff and therapists, as well as the generosity and aid from thousands of donors and volunteers, has made Trinity Youth Services an exceptional child care service provider in the western United States.
