Trinity Youth Services opened its foster care program in 1983. Trinity trains and certifies qualified foster parents, then partners with those foster parents as they open their homes to children who have been removed from their permanent homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Trinity foster families provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for foster children and work with the foster children until they can return to their natural family, can be placed with a relative, or until another permanent situation is developed. Trinity staff and foster parents facilitate reunification with the foster children's natural family through establishing family visitations, preparing the foster children for reunification, and working with the children to maintain positive relationships with all family members. Trinity strives to maintain sibling relationships and therefore values families who are willing and able to care for sibling groups and/or who are committed to arranging frequent sibling visits.
Trinity Foster Care social workers support the foster families by being available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The social workers maintain a low caseload so that they can focus on each child's individual needs. The social workers visit the home to see the children and foster parents at least twice per month. Additionally, they visit the children at school and/or out of the foster home at least once per month. This provides consistent supervision and assistance for the foster families as they navigate the healing process and help the children with their feelings and behaviors. Trinity social workers also assist by connecting children to medical, dental, and therapeutic service providers. Trinity social workers collaborate closely with the schools to ensure children's educational needs are being met. Often, tutoring is available through Trinity programs or volunteers to assist the children in their academics and life skills. Trinity also collaborates with many community groups and corporate sponsors to provide our foster children and families with special events and activities. Trinity foster parents are given monthly financial support to care for the foster children's needs.
Trinity strives to show every foster parent and foster child that they are valued and appreciated. To that end, the Trinity offices host events, such as Arts and Crafts Days, Back to School Ice Cream Socials, and Christmas, Easter, and Valentine's Day parties (events vary by office). Trinity often celebrates moms and dads with Mother's of Father's Day gifts, throws baby showers for pregnant teens, and celebrates children's birthdays and other special days with gifts of toys, books, and clothing. Trinity also offers free admission to special events in the community.
Trinity has foster care offices in multiple locations so that children and families in the region can be served through a local site. This makes it more convenient for foster families and children to benefit from Trinity's various trainings, services, and special events.
