Become a Foster Parent

Trinity is interested in certifying individuals of all backgrounds, who are single or married, working or retired, with or without children.

Step One: Contact Us

Please contact one of the foster care offices convenient to you, or if you prefer you can make an online inquiry and we can contact you. We will guide you from that point forward, beginning by answering your basic questions and setting up an orientation appointment for you. This orientation meeting will better acquaint you with Trinity, explain the foster care system, and answer all your detailed questions.

Step Two: Qualify

Individuals must meet the following requirements in order to apply.

Applicants must be financially stable with adequate income to meet their expenses
All adults in the home must have a clear criminal record (some minor offenses can receive exemptions)
Applicants must be 21 years of age or older (there is no maximum age limit)
Home must have bedroom space for no more than two children in each bedroom. This includes the family’s birth children. Applicants may also have one infant in their bedroom.

Step Three: Complete Certification

Applicants must complete the following steps in order to become certified.

Complete and receive approval of application
Complete 24 hours of training classes (more for ITFC program)
Pass a home safety inspection
Provide proof of insurance, a vehicle safety check, and valid driver’s license for each applicant
Get all adults in home fingerprinted and cleared
Complete CPR and 1st Aid certification
Complete a physical exam and TB test with your personal physician
Sign statements to acknowledge your agreement with all regulations and policies
Participate in a home study where all family members are interviewed in your home so we can learn more about you and your family on a personal level and be able to best match you with foster children
